Jenna McConnel and her husband Richard Cleary became citizens with their children Sebastian and Rebecca.<\/p>\n
Ms McConnel travelled to Australia from New Zealand 15 years ago and she said it was important her children became citizens of the country they call home.<\/p>\n
“It was especially important to us because the kids, even though they were born here, were New Zealand citizens and they weren’t eligible by birth to be Australian citizens,” she said.<\/p>\n
“It was really important for us to have the kids be citizens of the country that is their home because as far as they are concerned, they are Australian.<\/p>\n
“We do love it out here and we are really appreciative and excited to be official Australians.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
