{"id":3515,"date":"2019-09-16T10:54:35","date_gmt":"2019-09-16T00:54:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=3515"},"modified":"2024-02-02T20:57:05","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T09:57:05","slug":"learning-the-ropes-early","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/learning-the-ropes-early\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning the ropes early"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Meg Kennedy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two community groups in Ballan have joined forces to create cooking magic.<\/p>\n<p>Ballan and District CWA and 1st Ballan Scouts Group Joeys came together for a hands-on cooking class in late August.<\/p>\n<p>As well as creating delicious party pizzas and Milo balls with CWA cooks Sandra, Susan, Nishka and Veronika, the young Scout members were taught food safety tips and hygiene when cooking. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis great experience reinforced how beneficial mentoring from the CWA was for the younger generations within our community,\u201d said Ballan and District CWA President Symone Barry.<\/p>\n<p>The Ballan and District CWA has previously supported the 1st Ballan Scouts Group, providing a fundraising opportunity to host a lemonade stand at the CWA\u2019s Mid-Winter Bushdance in July.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cOver the past three years, our branch has strived to support local community groups and events, such as the Ballan Autumn Festival and the Ballan RSL,\u201d said Ms Barry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur branch is all about supporting others, sharing skills and striving to provide positive opportunities to assist and engage all members of our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more information, you can find Ballan and District CWA on Facebook at www.facebook.com\/CWAballan, and the 1st Ballan Scouts Group at www.facebook.com\/ballanscouts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Meg Kennedy Two community groups in Ballan have joined forces to create cooking magic.
