MORE than $10 million worth of upgrades to Darley Primary School have been completed ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n
The facility was modernised with a new administration building, the upgrade and extension of a classroom block to create a new learning community, the part demolition of the main block and a relocatable building, and the movement of another relocatable building.<\/p>\n
The extension added two new classrooms and an art room.<\/p>\n
“When you walk in, the architectural design and colours just brings a warmth to the purpose-built space,” Darley Primary School principal Fiona Kerton said.<\/p>\n
“They are no longer feeling crowded and outdated, and the kids are engaged in their learning.<\/p>\n
“To have the collaborative break-out spaces through the middle of the building just adds to the learning environment.”<\/p>\n
The construction was initially expected to be completed in September 2025.<\/p>\n
The project was funded by the State Government with more than $10 million allocated in the 2022 to 2023 state budget.<\/p>\n
Member for Eureka Michaela Settle visited the site last week to celebrate the project’s completion.<\/p>\n
“Darley Primary School has been part of this community for a long, long time, but it needed some more love in the buildings,” she said.<\/p>\n
“The teaching staff here, the principal here are wonderful, and they do an extraordinary job, but to have those facilities to support their teaching is so important.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
