A NEW accessible play space has been unveiled at Darley Park with play equipment, landscaping, footpaths, picnic tables and a drinking fountain.<\/p>\n
The previous playground, which sat between the cricket nets and shelter, was decommissioned and is now a lawn area.<\/p>\n
The project was funded with more than $600,000 from Moorabool Shire Council and $200,000 from the State Government’s Living Local Fund.<\/p>\n
“It’s a wonderful new facility for families and there’s lots of things to do,” Member for Eureka Michaela Settle said.<\/p>\n
“Positioned here at the football club means you can come down on a Saturday and everyone can have fun.”<\/p>\n
The Darley Park master plan was adopted in 2021 and identified a play space was needed in the area.<\/p>\n
A community survey indicated it was important to create an area where both seniors and children can interact.<\/p>\n
Mayor Cr Paul Tatchell said creating places like this where the community can meet is a key role of local government.<\/p>\n
“You’ve got to provide these facilities otherwise we’re not looking after our future,” he said.<\/p>\n
“I think we’re back to what we should be doing\u2026 I think we’re side tracked continually about being crossed over into other jobs.<\/p>\n
