MOORABOOL Shire Council staff are reminding residents they can apply for free permits to graze livestock along roadsides.<\/p>\n

Fees are being waived due to current dry conditions, and the initiative aims to ease pressure on feed supply.<\/p>\n

Mayor Cr Paul Tatchell said he hopes the free permits will support local landowners while protecting public safety.<\/p>\n

“We understand how tough things are on the land right now,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Waiving this fee makes it easier for farmers to access additional grazing space during these conditions, while ensuring the community and our roads remain safe.<\/p>\n

“We’re doing what we can to be flexible, and we encourage landowners to apply and to speak to us about their needs.”<\/p>\n

Permit holders must install stock-proof fencing, display warning signage, supervise livestock and return them to the property by dusk, remove infrastructure after grazing, and provide $10 million public liability insurance. Any fencing, including electric, must have signage and not use steel posts.<\/p>\n
