175th year.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_35744\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-35744\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-35744\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/08\/IMG_2453_46576-1-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"897\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-35744\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Buddies Emersyn (grade 5) and Zara (grade 1).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To commemorate the anniversary in a permanent way, we wanted to do something sustainable that all the children could take part in,&#8221; said BMPS principal Melinda Williams.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/08\/IMG_2458_46592.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"442\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Buddies Lyla (grade 1) and Ella (grade 5).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is something that they can pay forward for the future.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been a wonderful collaboration with the Moorabool Shire and Moorabool Landcare Network, enabling every child and every staff member to plant a tree and make a significant difference.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/08\/IMG_2470_46607.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"428\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sally Yates and buddies Jack (grade 5) and Charlie (grade 1).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MLN facilitator Roger MacRaild said lots of eucalypts were already in the ground at the site near the sculpture trail, so the school planting day was an opportunity to get the lower canopy and mid shrub story growing.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/08\/IMG_2495_46611.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"441\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Grade 3 student Ethan and BMPS principal Melinda Williams.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve got a few grasses and wildflowers around the front here, and we&#8217;re trying to create a relatively dense patch that will be well suited to small birds,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/08\/IMG_2506_46676.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"461\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nine hundred plants &#8211; one each for every student and staff member &#8211; were put into the ground on Monday ready for Tuesday&#8217;s rainy day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Things like the spreading wattle and the ploughshare wattle are great little bird habitat for birds like wrens.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All of the plants are from the local area&#8230;so we&#8217;re in the right rainfall zone and soil type for the genetics.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_35746\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-35746\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-35746\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/08\/IMG_2508_46651-2-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"923\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-35746\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nine hundred plants \u2013 one each for every student and staff member \u2013 were put into the ground on Monday ready for Tuesday\u2019s rainy day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr MacRaild said it was great to help the school leave a &#8220;lasting legacy&#8221; for the environment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are different levels of ability but the level of endeavour is there and they&#8217;re all enthusiastic to do it.
