Young people in Moorabool have been celebrated for taking initiative on topics most important to them.<\/p>\n
A graduation ceremony for successful members of the annual Western Bulldogs Leadership Program was held last Monday, 23 September, celebrating the hard work of young people in the community.<\/p>\n
Moorabool Shire Deputy Mayor Cr John Keogh presented certificates to the six participants for this year\u2019s program: Connor Sidari-Alley, Jake Wernicke, Damon Potaris, Jackson Buchan, Keely Rich and Tom Rice.<\/p>\n
The Western Bulldogs Leadership Program is a youth leadership program delivered by the Western Bulldogs Football Club Community Foundation, in partnership with local councils.<\/p>\n
All participants individually presented their community projects on prevalent issues important to them, including homelessness, care bags for kids who are victims of domestic violence, racism, and the environment.<\/p>\n
The members also gave personal reflections of their individual achievements, and insights into the camps they attended throughout the program.<\/p>\n
The \u2018You Inspire Me Award\u201d, which is voted by the participants, was awarded to Tom Rice and presented by State Government MP for Melton Steve McGhie.<\/p>\n
Moorabool Shire Youth Development Officer Andrew Dyson said the graduation night \u201cis in celebration of the participants achievements and to formally acknowledge their graduation from the program.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOur community is in good hands if the personal achievements of this talented and inspiring group of young people are our future,\u201d said Mr Dyson.<\/p>\n
The program was supported support by local groups and businesses who partnered with Moorabool Shire Council to fund the program, including Bacchus Marsh Lions Club, The Moorabool News, Bendigo Bank Community Bank, Shane Cook Homes, Rayner First National Real Estate, Coaches of Australia, Western Screen, Blinds & Awnings and Boratto Farms.<\/p>\n
