{"id":36352,"date":"2025-10-18T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=36352"},"modified":"2025-10-16T00:21:34","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T13:21:34","slug":"serving-up-a-great-reunion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/serving-up-a-great-reunion\/","title":{"rendered":"Serving up a great reunion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than sixty people attended the Ballan Tennis Club reunion last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Memorabilia and trophies were on display for the event.<\/p>\n<p>A special highlight was a presentation made to former club chairman John Waddington.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;John is leaving the area,&#8221; said one of the reunion organisers, Denis Conroy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We presented him with a special plaque to thank him for all his years at the club, including his service as club chairman and as a representative on the recreation reserve committee.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone who attended the reunion said they enjoyed it very much.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/10\/BallantennisDenisCon_56979.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"1028\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Organiser Denis Conroy thanked everyone who attended the Ballan Tennis Club reunion last weekend and took along some special memorabilia.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The weather was nice and sunny although there was a cool wind.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The local scouts did a fantastic job on the barbecue, as did the members of the cricket club who manned the bar.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were all very grateful.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The club is in recess at present due to lack of office bearers, but Mr Conroy is hopeful that it will soon be resurrected.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/10\/BallantennisAndreaLa_57915.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"402\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Andrea Lay, Di Austin and Russell Leeding all enjoyed the afternoon, which featured a bring-a-plate afternoon tea as they had it in their playing days.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Those who attended the reunion were surprised to hear about the club&#8217;s struggles to reopen, especially as we have some of the best courts in the district,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Many of them have offered their support and are willing to lend a hand.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hopefully the Ballan Tennis Club will be back in operation before too long.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than sixty people attended the Ballan Tennis Club reunion last weekend.
