“We’re a large page; there’s 24,000 members\u2026and we get people asking all different things, so the more we can use the whole group as a community hub \u2013 to service the community with information and resources \u2013 the better for everyone.”<\/p>\n
Ms Barlow said most people offering to pick up scrap metal did so free of charge because they then sold the material.<\/p>\n
“It’s my understanding that most people do it for free, but if it was a large amount I guess that would be a different thing,” she said, adding that she knew that some people were willing to pay to have their scrap metal taken away.<\/p>\n
Ms Barlow said she was not surprised by the response since she posted the intention to set up the centralised information hub last week.<\/p>\n
“That’s our community,” she said. “Everyone’s always willing to support each other and to support new things.<\/p>\n
“So I’m never disappointed\u2026because we’ve got a great community.”<\/p>\n
