A NEW chair and board members have joined the Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CCMA) after being appointed by the Minister for Water.<\/p>\n
Existing director Michael Watson was named chair and Terry Atkinson, Louisa-Jane Cunningham, Angela Higgins, and Andrea Montgomery joined the board.<\/p>\n
Mr Watson has been part of the board since 2021 and was deputy chair over the last year.<\/p>\n
He has more than 25 years of experience in Victoria’s essential services sector including as chief financial officer and company secretary at Barwon Water, and has held key roles at the State Electricity Commission of Victoria\/Powercor.<\/p>\n
“Michael has brought extensive governance and financial expertise to our board in recent years and his appointment as chair will ensure strong oversight of the organisation’s strategy and performance continues,” CCMA CEO Dr Amber Clarke said.<\/p>\n
A Bunurong, Wemba Wemba and Wiradjuri man, Mr Atkinson has been the Aboriginal board delegate at the CCMA for 15 months.<\/p>\n
He is the Wadamba partnerships coordinator at Wanyaari Aboriginal Consultancy Services and chair of the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation.<\/p>\n
Shelford farmer Ms Cunningham has been part of the CCMA’s Community Engagement Network since 2022 and is a member of Leigh Catchment Group and the Corangamite Rural Women’s Network. She also on the Otway Agroforestry Network board.<\/p>\n
Ms Higgins is the co-director of Pardoo Cattle Co near Colac and secretary of the Central Otway Landcare Network.<\/p>\n
She has been a member of the CCMA’s Community Engagement Network, the Corangamite Rural Women’s Network, and the Colac Better Beef Group.<\/p>\n
Ms Montgomery has more than 20 years of experience working with rural communities in the not-for-profit sector.<\/p>\n
She is chair of Friends of the Barwon and also serves as the Landcare facilitator for the Upper Barwon Landcare Network.<\/p>\n
“Our new board members bring significant experience in sustainable agriculture, land and waterway management, community engagement and business plus have strong connections to the regional community,” Dr Clarke said.<\/p>\n
Andy Meddick, Cathy Phelps, and Wayne Weaire will return as board members.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
