MEMBERS of Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics Centre have participated in the region relay carnival at Newport Park Athletics Track.<\/p>\n
The young athletes took home seven gold, four silver and six bronze medals.<\/p>\n
The winning teams have automatically progressed to the state relay championships, which will be held at Lakeside Stadium on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 December in conjunction with Athletics Victoria.<\/p>\n
More teams are expected to progress following the finalisation of results.<\/p>\n
“Our senior kids competed really well,” committee member Linda Thompson said.<\/p>\n
“I’ve been advised by their coach that there’s a possibility that he could have over 15 teams go through to state going by what other regions have run.<\/p>\n
“I think our senior athletes will be well represented at the state championships.”<\/p>\n
The competition occurred on Saturday 22 November and the centre sent 56 teams comprised of 71 athletes.<\/p>\n
“That was a great contingent of athletes participating in the relays this year,” Ms Thompson said.<\/p>\n
“Their sportsmanship on the day was a credit to them and there was a really good team spirit for Bacchus Marsh.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
