Photo: EDWINA WILLIAMS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bacchus Marsh Primary School celebrated its 175th anniversary as the oldest still-operating state school in Victoria, Moorabool Shire added its voice to the widespread outrage that greeted the State Government\u2019s Emergency Services and Volunteers Fund, and Masons Lane Dog Park was officially opened.<\/p>\n<p>Major annual FightMND fundraiser Big Freeze in the Marsh was held at Maddingley Park. 13 people from the Bacchus Marsh and Sebastopol football netball club communities were sponsored to slide into an icy pool in costume, all to raise funds for research into treatments and a cure for motor neurone disease.<\/p>\n<p>With a goal of $53,000, the sliders raised $55,000 by the time they went down the slide, and the campaign total hit more than $58,000 by the middle of this week. The facility was modernised with a new administration building, the upgrade and extension of a classroom block to create a new learning community, the part demolition of the main block and a relocatable building, and the movement of another relocatable building. The EPA confirmed that it had ruled out bearing part of the cost, an option suggested by VCAT in July.<\/p>\n<p>Moorabool Shire sought urgent talks with Western Health management after revelations that a registered nurse position would be removed from the Bacchus Marsh Urgent Care centre in September. Under the Major and Local Community Infrastructure Program, the Shire wants the government to deliver on a commitment, given by the Member for Hawke Sam Rae, of a $25 million contribution in the lead-up to the 3 May election. It would provide the remaining money needed to build the pool.
