ARTHOUSE film The New Boy, featuring Cate Blanchett playing a renegade nun, is first up for this year’s Movies in the Marsh series.<\/p>\n
The freshly returning program offers local film lovers a relaxed chance to connect over a good movie with screenings held on the last Friday of the month in comfort at Bacchus Marsh’s Lerderderg Library.<\/p>\n
Senior librarian for adult programs Patricia McQueen said the movies are generally programmed three months in advance, with The New Boy scheduled to screen at 10am on Friday 30 January, and other films already locked in for February and March.<\/p>\n
“In February, for the first time we’re also going to have our movies screen at the Ballan Library, on Thursday 26 February, and then here at the Lerderderg Library on Friday 27 February,” Ms McQueen said.<\/p>\n
“We will use both venues and our movie in February is The Travellers, a new movie with Brian Brown where a successful stage designer returns to his small home town to say goodbye to his dying mother. I’ve heard it’s fantastic. It was recommended.<\/p>\n
“March is International Women’s Day month so our movie will be in keeping with that theme with The Last Showgirl starring Pamela Anderson and directed by Gia Coppola.<\/p>\n
“That will screen on Thursday 26 March at Ballan and on Friday 27 March at the Lerderderg Library.<\/p>\n
“The Ballan movies are at 2pm and our Lerderderg Library screenings are from 10am to 12 noon.<\/p>\n
“They’re all free to attend with morning tea provided and people can book on our Moorabool Library website.<\/p>\n
“We have comfy chairs and we cater for everyone.<\/p>\n
“The University of the Third Age come to the movies and all go out to the lunch afterwards.<\/p>\n
“It’s a great opportunity to chat movies, meet new people and watch world class movies free of charge.<\/p>\n
“We do the programming three months in advance and if anyone wants to suggest some movies we’re happy to hear from them.<\/p>\n
“We’re thinking of alternating old with new, including things that might have gone off the radar in cinemas.”<\/p>\n
May is heritage month and the historical society will be presenting the BaccChat, with the library aiming to screen a heritage movie.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
