{"id":37406,"date":"2026-01-16T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=37406"},"modified":"2026-01-15T09:42:48","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T22:42:48","slug":"peppertree-park-toilet-campaign-gets-rolling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/peppertree-park-toilet-campaign-gets-rolling\/","title":{"rendered":"Peppertree Park toilet campaign gets rolling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE campaign for a public toilet in Peppertree Park, Bacchus Marsh, will become official at the run event early next month.<\/p>\n<p>It will be at 7.45am on Saturday 7 February that runners will gather for the parkrun&#8217;s 250th instalment and will formalise their push for the facility by taking along toilet rolls and posing with them for photo opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Parkrun participant Sarah Guy is heading up the publicity campaign and said all Moorabool Shire Councillors had been invited to attend.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Guy said letters outlining the need for a toilet had been sent to State Member for Eureka Michaela Settle and the Federal Member for Hawke, Sam Rae.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_37411\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-37411\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-37411\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2026\/01\/Loo03_48012-1-rotated.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2026\/01\/Loo03_48012-1-rotated.jpeg 900w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2026\/01\/Loo03_48012-1-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2026\/01\/Loo03_48012-1-768x1024.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-37411\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Parkrunners would ideally like to see a Changing Places facility built in the park.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Letters have also been sent to all councillors and selected staff, as well as other local groups that may wish to be involved.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Guy said the need for a toilet in the park had been a topic of discussion among parkrunners, and the group was hoping to have a facility included in the next council budget.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The park is getting used more and more often \u2013 for the parkrun [and] also as a place that people stop in when travelling through the town,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think 100 per cent of parkrunners would say that we need one.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;About 12 months ago they landscaped the park a bit more&#8230;and you do see lots of people stopping there.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a really popular walking track now, even if you&#8217;re not a parkrunner.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2026\/01\/Parkrun02_57326.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Participants in the Peppertree Park parkrun are unanimously in favour of a toilet, according to Sarah Guy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ms Guy said the ultimate aim would be for a Changing Places facility, which would be accessible to everyone.<\/p>\n<p>She said that is why government MPs had been included in the mail-out \u2013 particularly with the state election coming in November.<\/p>\n<p>Moorabool mayor Cr Steve Venditti-Taylor, a regular parkrunner himself, expressed support for the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If you look at the foot traffic seven days a week that actually uses the park, it would probably be in the top five used parks in the area,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think it&#8217;s an absolute no-brainer. You&#8217;ve probably got 1000 people a week going through that park, if not more.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think councillors will support the community, it&#8217;s just a matter of whether it can get done from the council side.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a really good project.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE campaign for a public toilet in Peppertree Park, Bacchus Marsh, will become official at the run event early next month.
