TRENTHAM Bowling Club’s annual open fours tournament on 1 February has attracted a quality field of teams from around the region, including visitors from Bendigo, Castlemaine and Daylesford.<\/p>\n
With the event limited to 12 teams, club spokesperson Max Bruton said the field for the event had filled quickly.<\/p>\n
“We’ve got seven rinks here (at Trentham), so can only take 14 teams, but interest was strong,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We’ve got a couple of teams from up Bendigo way, one from Castlemaine, three or four Trentham teams, and a couple of Kyneton teams and Daylesford \u2013 a nice mix from around the area.<\/p>\n
“We have a couple here, who used to live in Castlemaine and are bowling here, so they have some contacts up that way and Bendigo, which has helped with getting teams.<\/p>\n
“It’s good to be full of teams well ahead of the event.”<\/p>\n
The tournament format will see teams play three games of 12 ends.<\/p>\n
Action gets underway at 9am, with lunch and afternoon tea included.<\/p>\n
The club, which plays in the Central Highlands Bowls Division and has two Saturday pennant teams, will host its annual mixed fours competition at the end of March.<\/p>\n
The division one side is currently eighth on the ladder following last weekend’s win over Kyneton Golf, while division three is in ninth ahead of a clash against seventh-placed Woodend this weekend.<\/p>\n
Kyneton (11-1) heads the division one ladder, with Romsey (8-3-1), Kilmore (8-3-1) and Kyneton Golf (8-4) rounding out the top four.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
