{"id":37630,"date":"2026-02-04T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-03T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=37630"},"modified":"2026-01-29T22:26:31","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T11:26:31","slug":"review-prompts-new-5-million-grant-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/review-prompts-new-5-million-grant-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Review prompts new $5 million grant program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>APPLICATIONS are now open for a new $5 million grant program aimed at helping grassroots multicultural organisations strengthen their foundations and expand their impact within local communities.<\/p>\n<p>The Multicultural Capacity Building Program is open to both emerging and established organisations, with three funding streams offering grants of up to $10,000, $100,000 or $400,000.<\/p>\n<p>Funding can be used to support capacity-building activities such as projects that develop skills, partnerships and leadership, as well as to assist with ongoing operational costs and day-to-day expenses, including improvements to IT systems and business planning.<\/p>\n<p>Organisations representing new and emerging communities, along with those based in rural and regional areas, will be prioritised.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ingrid Stitt said the funding would help ensure all Victorians could continue to benefit from the state&#8217;s diverse and inclusive society.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Victoria has a proud history of multiculturalism and diversity, but we know it needs to be nurtured and supported,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Grassroots multicultural organisations are the lifeblood of our communities \u2013 we&#8217;re backing them in with extra funding so they can continue supporting our multicultural communities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The program forms part of the state government&#8217;s response to Victoria&#8217;s Multicultural Review, led by\u00a0George Lekakis.<\/p>\n<p>Released in September last year, the review called for greater support for grassroots organisations to help build strength, sustainability and long-term capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Applications close on February 19.
