Photo: DARREN McLEAN<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Dehnert said strong hay seasons across the area prompted him to make the initial donation.<\/p>\n<p>After raising the idea with the Ballan group of CFA brigades \u2013 there are nine in the group and Mr Dehnert is the group officer \u2013 and sharing it on a local Facebook page, the drive quickly gathered pace.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The response has been overwhelming, actually,&#8221; he said. &#8220;In the end we just put it in the hands of the VFF (Victorian Farmers Federation).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The VFF has a register of fire-affected farmers who need hay and distributes donations as they come in through its Emergency Fodder Program.<\/p>\n<p>Donations of various quantities, from a few bales to many more, are being made in the Moorabool district.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2026\/02\/31604076247672_52235.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A truckload of hay bales ready to leave from Mr Dehnert\u2019s Ballan property. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve been slowly working to put loads together,&#8221; Mr Dehnert said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s just a small thing we can do to help other farmers.
