{"id":38101,"date":"2026-02-28T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=38101"},"modified":"2026-02-26T11:17:26","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T00:17:26","slug":"bunnings-coming-to-bacchus-marsh-in-100m-retail-complex","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/bunnings-coming-to-bacchus-marsh-in-100m-retail-complex\/","title":{"rendered":"Bunnings coming to Bacchus Marsh in $100m retail complex"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BACCHUS Marsh will finally have its long-awaited Bunnings outlet when a $100 million retail development is finished next year.<\/p>\n<p>The retailer will be the anchor tenant in the large-format retail hub, which will be 15,000 square metres in size and built on the corner of Parwan Road and Fisken Street to the town&#8217;s south-east.<\/p>\n<p>Plans for the complex \u2013 to be known as Bacchus Marsh Central \u2013 have already been lodged with the State Government&#8217;s development facilitation unit, which fast-tracks developments of economic benefit.<\/p>\n<p>Construction and leasing contracts have also been signed with the Troon Group and Colliers respectively.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2026\/02\/201411-Image2P2_22427.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alistair Gull described the project as long overdue in Bacchus Marsh.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Developer The Gull Group, of Ballarat, is planning to offer a mix of large-format retail stores, national lifestyle and homemaker brands, and food and beverage outlets.<\/p>\n<p>The Gull Group joint managing director Alistair Gull said Easter 2027 was the target completion and opening date.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Gull described the development as &#8220;a supersite&#8221;, which will be the first of its kind in Bacchus Marsh.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s well overdue and probably one of the most significant developments that&#8217;s ever been done in town,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a good news story because a lot of those retailers haven&#8217;t been able to get into town due to Bacchus Marsh&#8217;s valuable farming land, its congested traffic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2026\/02\/201411-Image3P2_24177.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The large-format retail complex is valued at $100 million.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Gull said being close to the train station and in the growth area of Parwan and towards Geelong were other advantages.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a big win for (the) town, and to have these groups that want to come there is pretty exciting.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s good for jobs, it&#8217;s good for the community; it gives people another option besides Melton.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Gull said many retailers wanted to be co-located with Bunnings because they knew they could attract more business off the back of the hardware giant&#8217;s trade.<\/p>\n<p>He said the Moorabool Shire was &#8220;100 per cent supportive&#8221; of the project.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2026\/02\/201411-Image4P1_27284.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The site at the south-eastern entrance to Bacchus Marsh has long been earmarked for retail development.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This site has been earmarked for quite some time for that type of development,&#8221; Mr Gull said, adding that at least half of the retail space had already been committed.<\/p>\n<p>He said his group had a very good relationship with the Ballarat-based Troon Group, which has built more than 50 Bunnings outlets.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BACCHUS Marsh will finally have its long-awaited Bunnings outlet when a $100 million retail development is finished next year.
