YEARS of lobbying to have Ballan residents re-zoned for inclusion in the Daylesford Secondary College school zone have finally paid off for local families.<\/p>\n
The changes will see Ballan and Dales Creek – that both currently fall within in the Bacchus Marsh College school zone – re-zoned from next year.<\/p>\n
“It means that from 2027 the state government will provide a regular school bus service linking Ballan and Dales Creek to Daylesford College,” said Member for Eureka Michaela Settle who actively helped Ballan locals lobby for the change.<\/p>\n
“It’s fantastic that people have had their voices heard.”<\/p>\n
Kristy Hodge is the mother of Ballan Primary School pupil Jack Mullane who starts year 7 at Daylesford College next year. She said having a regular bus service linking Ballan to Daylesford makes a big difference.<\/p>\n
Many are using private transport and some carpool to link with existing Daylesford school bus services that do not currently reach Ballan or Dales Creek because they’re in the Bacchus Marsh College zone.<\/p>\n
“It will make a huge difference for us in terms of money and time,” Ms Hodge said.<\/p>\n
Moorabool Shire councillor Ally Munari has children attending Daylesford Secondary College and is a member of the Daylesford Secondary College School Council.<\/p>\n
She said the move will also play a vital role in boosting dwindling student enrolments at the Daylesford college and helping to guarantee funding, teacher numbers and programs offered at the college.<\/p>\n
“Being able to attend Daylesford College gives Ballan families more options. It’s got that country feel that a lot of local families want,” Cr Munari said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
