{"id":39343,"date":"2026-06-04T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=39343"},"modified":"2026-06-03T16:10:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T06:10:12","slug":"government-dives-in-on-aquatic-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/government-dives-in-on-aquatic-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Government dives in on aquatic centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FUNDING has been secured for an indoor aquatic centre in Moorabool.<\/p>\n<p>It was announced last week that the federal government will provide $25 million for the build to the state government&#8217;s $10m and Moorabool Shire Council&#8217;s $15m investment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is an exciting step forward for a project our community has been calling for over many years, and we thank our local federal Member for Hawke Sam Rae for his support,&#8221; Moorabool mayor Steve Venditti-Taylor said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The signing of the federal funding agreement means we are now all systems go to progress the indoor aquatic centre and move towards delivery.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He acknowledged the role of funding partners in bringing the Maddingley project to this point.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We sincerely thank the federal government and the Victorian government for their contributions to this project,&#8221; he said<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Their support, alongside council&#8217;s $15 million investment, demonstrates a shared commitment to improving health, wellbeing and liveability for our growing community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Council&#8217;s commitment is included in our Draft 2026\/27 Budget, which is currently out for community consultation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Rae said the milestone marked a significant step forward for local families.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This investment will now deliver a modern, year-round aquatic centre that supports the health, wellbeing and recreation needs of our growing community,&#8221; the Hawke MP said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the centre would provide an inclusive facility for people of all ages and abilities and become a vital community hub.<\/p>\n<p>Rae acknowledged the partnership that had made the project possible.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is what good collaboration looks like &#8211; all levels of government working together to deliver the infrastructure our community needs,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>More information and updates at <a href=\"http:\/\/moorabool.vic.gov.au\/marc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">moorabool.vic.gov.au\/marc<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FUNDING has been secured for an indoor aquatic centre in Moorabool.
