FOR the past two-and-a-half years, Willy Jansen has been hosting an open mic night on the third Saturday of every month at the Mount Wallace Jubilee Hall.<\/p>\n
Since its inception, the event has attracted a variety of acts, including singers and guitarists.<\/p>\n
Jansen said the event is always a great night with plenty of community spirit.<\/p>\n
“On the third Saturday of every month, the historic Mount Wallace Hall comes to life,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We would love people to come along and witness some of the best local talent or sign up and perform in front of a fun and inviting crowd.<\/p>\n
“All talents \u2013 singers, magicians, players of instruments, comedians and poets of all ages \u2013 are invited to take the stage.<\/p>\n
“A light supper is provided, and you can bring your own drinks.”<\/p>\n
Jansen is a local resident who just wants to provide entertainment and a performance opportunity for members of the community.<\/p>\n
“We’ve had a good roll-up since it began,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Attendance slows a bit during winter when we compete with the footy and cold weather but the hall is always nice and warm, and we provide supper.<\/p>\n
“This month we have the Ballan Choir performing and a man telling stories as well as many other acts.<\/p>\n

The next open mic night will be held tomorrow, Saturday 20 June, at the Mount Wallace Jubilee Hall.<\/p>\n
The hall is at 16 Mount Wallace Hall Road, Mount Wallace, and the event will run from 7pm to 10pm.<\/p>\n
