A Maddingley resident has voiced her frustration about the state of one of the suburb’s major roads.<\/p>\n
Moorabool Shire Council has said it is in the process of designing an upgrade for Griffith Street, including duplication of the road.<\/p>\n
However, Anne Walker said the road needed to be resurfaced immediately instead of the many potholes filled between Osborne and Grant streets.<\/p>\n
Walker said the road was not suitable for the residential and industrial growth that had occurred during the 16 years she had lived in the area.<\/p>\n
“It needs to be upgraded because it’s not thick enough. The type of road that they put in was only for a small amount of traffic that was going through,” she said.<\/p>\n
“We have a huge amount of traffic, trucks, cars, just coming through every day.”<\/p>\n
Walker is concerned an accident will happen.<\/p>\n
“You can’t see where you’re going if it’s raining,” she said.<\/p>\n
“The surface of the road is wrong, so you’ve got potholes, you’ll hit them, you’ll lose control of your car, you’ll hurt your car… I’m now driving a car that’s a lot more expensive than what it was before.”<\/p>\n
She said the road had to be upgraded.<\/p>\n
“It needs to be resurfaced, not fill a pothole,” she said.<\/p>\n
A Moorabool Shire Council spokesperson said: “Council is in the process of designing an upgrade for Griffith Street including duplication of the road and construction of shared user paths each side.<\/p>\n
“The construction of the road component is not currently funded and council will be seeking external funds to assist funding the construction.<\/p>\n
“In the interim, council will continue to maintain the road in accordance with its road management plan.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
