Foodbank\u2019s Hunger Report for 2020 has painted a concerning picture of Australia\u2019s food relief situation \u2013 and they\u2019re concerns that hit local food relief efforts too.
\nFoodbank conducted a number of surveys and interviews with individuals and charities, with some of the most worrying findings being that the number of people seeking food relief weekly had more than doubled since the same time last year, 28 per cent of those experiencing food insecurity had never experienced it before COVID-19, and demand for food relief had increased by an average of 47 per cent since COVID-19 was declared a pandemic.
\nJackie Tabone, who runs the Bacchus Marsh food relief organisation The Neighbour\u2019s Place, said these were all issues she had observed, and had affected the organisation too.<\/p>\n
