A program empowering women in the sport workforce has had a record number of participants this year, including a Moorabool equestrian worker.<\/p>\n

Amber Evans is an equestrian coach and dressage specialist at Strathcuan Equestrian in Pentland Hills and, was one of 160 course participants under Sport Australia\u2019s 2021 Women Leaders in Sport Program.<\/p>\n

Despite the course running online this year due to the pandemic, Ms Evans said that taking part in the six-week program had enhanced her networking and connection to the industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the really nice things about the program was that you got to speak to women who were in a whole range of different sports, throughout Australia,\u201d she told the Moorabool News.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a fantastic stepping stone. The way they\u2019ve run the course, they basically create an alumni\u2026if you do the course, you then get access to other women all throughout Australia, who you can contact and who expect to be contacted. You can email them, organise a chance to catch up and talk through issues or about their careers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s one of the things I enjoyed the most \u2013 this idea of connecting with people in a way that\u2019s empowering, and helps you to grow. It can help improve the things you offer, give you new ideas and new perspectives on how to approach things.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Evans said she would \u201cone hundred per cent\u201d recommend any women who were interested apply for next year\u2019s program.<\/p>\n
