A protest group has claimed compensation offers for the Western Victoria Transmission Network Project (WVTNP) are \u201can insult to the people of Victoria\u201d \u2013 but the planners say their figure isn\u2019t quite right.<\/p>\n

Following the release of AusNet\u2019s \u2018A guide to living with transmission line easements\u2019 earlier this month, community group Stop AusNet\u2019s Towers released a statement accusing AusNet of \u201cputting a price on our lives and livelihoods\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe proposed compensation package for those impacted by the Western Victoria Transmission Network Project is an insult\u2026AusNet\u2019s wants to buy our community\u2019s silence for $200,000 per 85m-high transmission tower,\u201d Stop AusNet\u2019s Towers\u2019 spokesperson, Emma Muir, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s loose change for a $17 billion multinational and it doesn\u2019t cover a fraction of the millions of dollars of loss landowners face \u2013 many for generations. Our community is not for sale.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe compensation plan is a PR stunt that attempts to divert people away from the devastating impacts of the project.\u201d<\/p>\n
