Alleged \u201cheavy-handed\u201d behaviour by an energy company is under police investigation, with the confrontation between the company and a landowner even making the small screen.<\/p>\n

On Monday January 3, Toolern Vale farmer Michael Azzopardi appeared on \u2018A Current Affair\u2019, in a story which featured video footage of Mr Azzopardi repeatedly yelling at eight AusNet contractors to \u201cget out\u201d and leave his property.<\/p>\n

The vision shows Mr Azzopardi falling to the ground during the confrontation, and he claims he was pushed by the contractors, who were there to do surveys for the Western Victoria Transmission Network Project (WVTNP).<\/p>\n

\u201cI was very upset, because I\u2019ve got valuable mares that were in the paddock\u2026they [AusNet\u2019s contractors] just persisted to push me into the paddock, and they kept on saying to me, \u2018We can see why we needed to do this, don\u2019t get yourself into trouble\u2019, when they were causing all the trouble,\u201d Mr Azzopardi said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy main concern was my brood mares were heavy in foal. They could go through the fence, they could slip their foals\u2026their [AusNet\u2019s contractors] concern was their agenda to do their tests, they didn\u2019t care about my concerns at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Azzopardi said he was not opposed to AusNet doing their tests, but had wanted an extra day to move his horses \u201cinto a smaller paddock, so they\u2019re confined so they can\u2019t run\u201d.<\/p>\n
