The Autumn firewood collection season started on Tuesday 1 March.
\nFirewood can be collected in State forests for home use in designated places at specific times.
\nThe collection season is open from 1 March to 30 June (Autumn season).
\nIf you are collecting firewood for domestic use, stay safe, be considerate of others, plan ahead, and consider how much wood you will need.
\nSome simple tips for those collecting firewood
\n\u2022\tView the Regional State Forest maps to identify firewood collection areas in your region. You can download and print an updated map of where firewood can be collected in your area. Please be aware of information that may be specific to your region.
\n\u2022\tOfficial signs make these areas easy to identify.
\n\u2022\tPlease note it is illegal to sell firewood from domestic firewood collection areas.
\n\u2022\tDo not collect firewood within 20 metres of any rivers, creeks, lakes or dams.
\n\u2022\tPlease protect native flora and fauna and respect cultural heritage sites.
\n\u2022\tPlease take your litter with you when you leave.
\nWood from last year\u2019s June and October storms will be among the firewood available in parts of the State.
\nThere may be changes to the collection rules for your area, make sure to visit the website for more information.
\nThere are serious penalties for failing to follow firewood collection rules.
\nFFMVic works with the Conservation Regulator to regularly patrol state forests and make sure people are adhering to the firewood collection rules.
