The Young Writers Award is back for 2022, with this year\u2019s competition asking young writers \u2013 what could be behind a mystery door?<\/p>\n

Presented by local writers Jem Tyley-Miller and Wayne Marshall, in partnership with Moorabool Shire Libraries, the competition opened on March 14, and will be open for submissions until 11.59 pm on April 29.<\/p>\n

Winners and runners-up will be awarded from five age categories: Early Years Primary (Prep, Grade 1 and 2), Middle Primary (Grade 3 and 4), Upper Primary (Grade 5 and 6), Lower Secondary (Years 7 \u2013 9) and Upper Secondary (Years 10 \u2013 12, or under 18).<\/p>\n

Early Years entrants are asked to complete a picture prompt available on the Moorabool Shire Council website by drawing a character they might meet behind the door, or write a description of the character.<\/p>\n

Middle and Upper Primary entrants must write a short story up to 1000 words, while for Lower and Upper and Secondary entrants, the word limit is 3000 words.<\/p>\n
