{"id":944,"date":"2017-06-12T03:43:25","date_gmt":"2017-06-12T03:43:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=944"},"modified":"2024-02-02T16:27:30","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T05:27:30","slug":"refugees-are-a-reality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/refugees-are-a-reality\/","title":{"rendered":"Refugees are a reality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>By Jessica Howard<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As National Refugee Week fast approaches, local Ballan residents welcome migrant families with open arms.<\/p>\n<p>Lloyd Lamb, member of the Ballan Refugee Realities group, said the week-long event raised awareness about the issues affecting refugees, and highlighted the positive contributions made to Australian society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody has watched the terrible things that are happening overseas and it is important to reflect on the struggle and the true prevails that some people have gone through to find themselves on Australian soil,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the main aims of the Ballan Refugee Realities group is to see everyone come together to make this a refugee-friendly town.
