Creative community unites behind next generation
A NEW collaboration between Spaghetti Circus and Brunswick Picture House has brought the world premiere of Spaghetti Western to the stage this week.
The show, which runs until November 9, is the result of a four-week residency supported by Create NSW and backed by local arts groups including NORPA.
Picture House owner Brett Haylock said it was the second partnership with Spaghetti Circus after a successful earlier season.
“The show has a rousing soundtrack, it rolls along at a rapid pace, and it’s really fun. We’re heartened by that,” Haylock said.
Haylock said the collaboration helps develop young local talent while strengthening creative links in the region.

“We need young local artists, and to give them the opportunities is in our best interest; we want these kids to succeed, and to see them on our stage again in five or 10 years,” he said. “A 10-show run is an invaluable and rare opportunity.”
Costume makers Chloe Rowland and Elaine Oliver created more than 58 costumes for the production, while NORPA provided lighting equipment.
“In production week, as a show comes together, it gets refreshed and we can feel the energy,” Haylock said.
“We’re in a privileged position because, as we’ve been here for almost 10 years now, and we’ve built our audience, they trust us, and so we know that this is going to deliver in spades, and we are really confident we will deliver an absolutely world-class show.”
