The Civilising Skirt – Ömie Tapa – Opening Event

The Civilising Skirt, a curated exhibition of Ömie tapa (beaten bark cloth) works from Papua New Guinea is set to open at Alstonville’s Black Fig Gallery. Omie tapa or beaten bark cloth was there at the very beginning of time when the first woman on earth- Saja, created the very first wrap around tapa skirt.
