MEL Bampton will bring storytelling, humour and straight talk about women’s hormonal health to Lismore Library this International Women’s Day, in the venue’s first event marking the occasion since the floods.

The local media personality and certified therapist will present Womb with a View on Thursday, March 5 at 5.30pm, combining spoken word with research-based discussion.

Bampton has been a familiar voice in Australian media, with past roles at Triple J and ABC talkback radio, and as a creator of the Like A Version segment.

She is now the founder of The Prana Project, focusing on women’s hormonal health through multi-generational presentations.

Bampton said Womb with a View was designed to speak to women at different life stages.

“I make an ode to Gen X women and the mark they are leaving in history, but it’s also a shout out to the boomer women who came before us, and it’s educational for millennials,” she said.

“As Gen X women, we were the first generation whose mothers went back into the workforce outside of war.”

She said the presentation also explored perimenopause and menopause as periods of transition rather than decline.

“It’s about celebrating women and what the future holds as we move through perimenopause, what superpowers that can bring, and where that leads you out the other side,” Bampton said.

Lismore librarian Kimberley Layton said the event marked an important moment following the library’s reopening.

“We’ve been open for 12 months and are now welcoming our local creatives and community members back into the space,” she said.

Womb with a View is a free public event, with bookings essential.
