$25K heritage grants for Tweed and Tenterfield
THE Tweed and Tenterfield shires have secured $25,000 each from the NSW Heritage Grants Program for regional projects of significance.
Member for Lismore and Minister for the North Coast, Janelle Saffin, congratulated both Local Government Areas on the funding and said she was pleased the government could assist councils in their heritage protection efforts and planning priorities.
“Both shires boast buildings, landmarks and sites of historical and cultural significance, and are well worth preserving for future generations,” Saffin said.
Tweed Shire Council funding will support the provision of a professional heritage advisor service to the local community on all heritage-related matters across its Local Government Area.
Tenterfield Shire Council will provide a heritage advisor service and fund small-scale local heritage projects for privately owned listed items.
Advice will include all types of heritage matters and referrals (Development Applications) focused on best practice outcomes to ensure the effective maintenance and protection of heritage items.
Saffin said the Government was making a record $ 8.65 million investment in 140 projects across the state.
