A 53-year-old man has been charged with reckless wounding after another man attended Brunswick Heads Police Station with facial injuries late Wednesday night.
Police said a 25-year-old man arrived at the station about 11.40pm on February 18 seeking assistance.
Officers rendered first aid before NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and transported the man to Gold Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
It is believed the two men were known to each other and that the incident occurred in a carpark.
A short time later, officers patrolled the area and spoke with a man on South Beach Road, Brunswick Heads.
During a search of the man’s vehicle, police allegedly located and seized an axe.
The 53-year-old man was arrested and taken to Byron Bay Police Station, where he was charged with reckless wounding.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 on Thursday.
