Byron Writers Festival to announce first authors as ticket sales open

TICKETS for the 2025 Byron Writers Festival will go on sale on Wednesday, April 2, with the first wave of authors to be announced the same day.

The three-day festival will return to the Bangalow Showground from August 8–10, featuring more than 100 sessions across six venues.

A limited number of discounted three-day passes will be available until Tuesday, April 9, unless sold out earlier.

Organisers have confirmed several local authors for the 2025 program, including Denise Alison (Humans of Lismore), Naima Brown (Mother Tongue) and world surfing champion Pauline Menczer (Surf Like a Woman).

Held on Bundjalung Country, the Byron Writers Festival is a major regional celebration of literature, storytelling and ideas, attracting local, national and international writers.

Past guests have included Tim Winton, Julia Baird, Richard Flanagan, Benjamin Law and Chloe Hooper.

The event also features writing workshops, book launches, a sculpture walk, food stalls, artisan markets and a dedicated children’s program.

The full program will be released on June 11.
