A tender is open for upgrades to the Browns Creek pump station.

LISMORE City Council is seeking tenders for vital projects, including the expansion of the Browns Creek pump station to upgrade essential flood-pumping infrastructure.

Council also plans to build a new pump station at South Lismore to speed up stormwater removal and help keep roads and evacuation routes open longer.

“Construction partners for the upgrade of the Magellan Street pump station, located next to the Lismore Transit Centre, and the new Snow Street pump station are now being sought,” a council spokesperson said.

“A tender for work at Browns Creek will open in the coming months.

“Significant work has been completed to reach this point, from funding to surveys and design, to ensure pump stations remain operational throughout construction.

“Council is sincerely grateful to the community for its support and patience during this important phase.”

Work has also begun to restore the first roads under the council’s Landslip Restoration Package.

Priority sites are on Stony Chute Road, Cawongla Road, Oakey Creek Road, Terania Creek Road and Wyrallah Road and Emily Street.

Emergency works were prioritised after the 2022 floods to restore safe access.

Intermediate and maintenance works have continued since, as detailed assessments, funding allocation and design were completed.

More than 2000 individual assessments, design and planning processes have been required.

Up to 60 damaged sites will be repaired through to late 2027 under the package, which is jointly funded by the federal and state governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.

Details of scheduled landslip restoration works are available on council’s new Project Pipeline webpage.
