Expo offers flood recovery guidance for homeowners
LISMORE residents can learn how to better protect their homes from floods at the Resilient Homes Expo on November 10.
Run by the NSW Reconstruction Authority, the event will give homeowners advice on how to raise, retrofit, rebuild or relocate their properties through the Resilient Homes Program.
The program offers matched funding of up to $100,000 for house raising and $50,000 for retrofitting works, plus up to $20,000 for planning, design and approval costs.
Authority executive director of the Northern Rivers adaptation division, Kristie Clarke, said recovery was different for every homeowner.
“These expos are a one-stop shop where residents can speak directly with our team and industry experts about grants, approvals and practical steps to make their homes more resilient,” Clarke said.
NSW Minister for Recovery Janelle Saffin said the government was helping Northern Rivers communities rebuild stronger and smarter.
More than 580 assessments have been completed, with hundreds of homeowners starting upgrades.
Eligible homeowners are encouraged to apply before March 31 to access funding before the program ends in June 2027.
