DISCOVER Ballina has been recognised as a major operator across the region after being named as a finalist the 2025 North Coast Regional Tourism Awards.

The nomination comes off the back of silver and bronze wins at the state-run Top Tourism Town Awards.

Destination Ballina has been nominated for its work at the visitor information centre.

It promotes the region’s coastline, rainforests, waterfalls and local businesses.

“We are honoured to be recognised, this acknowledges our role in enhancing and supporting the visitor experience across the region,” a Destination Ballina spokesperson said.

“Our work is focused on creating meaningful connections, between visitors and local businesses, between travellers and authentic experiences, and within the communities that make this region so special.

“This recognition reflects the dedication, innovation, and collaboration that underpin everything we do.”

Destination North Coast and the NSW Tourism Association have partnered to launch the North Coast Regional Tourism Awards.

It features 18 categories that align with the NSW and Australian Tourism Awards with business and operators based from Tweed to Port Macquarie.

The program celebrates excellence at a local level and recognises businesses and events enjoying long-term success.

Others are shortlisted in categories which highlight accommodation, events and restaurants.

The Lismore Lantern Parade has been nominated along with Contained in Nimbin Accommodation.

The Northern Rivers Rail Trail has also been nominated along with Invercauld House.

Cape Byron Kayaks and Lets Go Surfing are finalists in the Tour and Transport Operator category.

Tweed will be represented by a variety of events and businesses including Better by Bike Oz, Ecoasis, Pipit Restaurant, Savour the Tweed and the Tyalgum Hotel for its Country Music Weekend.

The awards will be held at Byron Bay on Thursday, July 31 with a full list of nominees at nswtourismassociation.com.au
