DISABILITY support service REDinc has reopened its Lismore site, unveiling a flood-resilient facility designed for specialist care.

The redevelopment was supported by a $330,000 investment from the state government, with REDinc contributing almost $100,000 towards the project.

The upgraded site includes a range of flood-mitigation features, including water-resistant wall panels and concrete flooring designed for easy wash-down.

Aluminium framing and edging have been used to minimise damage and reduce recovery time after flood events.

The kitchen has been designed so equipment can be quickly wheeled out if required, improving the site’s ability to withstand and recover from inundation.

REDinc chief executive Marie Gale said the opening reflected both resilience and community commitment.

“Families told us clearly that these services matter, and that having them available locally makes a real difference to daily life,” she said.

“This space ensures that people with disability, along with their families and carers, can continue to access essential supports in their own community, even as we plan for future events.”

The new hub will support a range of person-centred programs, including driver mentoring, budgeting and money management, employment pathways and workplace skills development.

It will also support creative and social programs, daily living skills training and community participation initiatives.

Lismore MP Janelle Saffin welcomed the reopening, saying the upgraded facility marked an important step forward for local services.

“It is incredibly heartening to see REDinc back in the heart of Lismore, stronger and more prepared than ever before,” she said.

“This new hub is about more than just a renovation; it’s about ensuring that people with disabilities in our community have a permanent, reliable space to grow, learn, and connect.”
