Free child car seat fittings for Ballina parents
BALLINA Shire Council and Transport for NSW are offering local families free checks and installations of child car seats.
Parents can redeem one of the 50 free vouchers valued at $66 at Dancer’s Car Care.
As part of a road safety initiative to improve children’s car safety, residents can apply for a voucher online to cover the cost of fitting a car seat, restraint, harness, or booster seat.
“Sadly, many children are killed or injured in car crashes every year,” Carpenter said.
“Some of these deaths and injuries could be prevented by using the right kind of child car seats.
“Using an age-appropriate and correctly fitted car seat greatly increases a child’s safety during a crash.
“The free vouchers give parents and carers the opportunity to not only get their child restraint checked and fitted but to ask questions and get advice about the best restraints for their child’s safety,” she said.
Voucher holders must supply their own car child seat. The voucher does not cover additional required parts, such as extension straps and gated buckles.
Appointments are available Monday to Friday, at 9.30 am, 11.30 am or 1 pm until March 3.
The vouchers can be claimed online by searching ‘car seat voucher’ at Ballina Shire Council’s website.
