THE New South Wales Government has announced its lineup of free activities in the Holiday Break program across the state’s regions.

The program, which provides enriching, educational and enjoyable experiences, aims to ensure that young people in regional areas have opportunities to stay engaged, regardless of financial barriers.

NSW Minister for Youth Rose Jackson said the program was a great way to engage and support young people, helping them to stay active, explore new interests and connect with friends.

“We’re making sure that kids and teens have the chance to try something new, build valuable skills and create meaningful relationships,” Jackson said.

“We know access to these sorts of activities and programs can be more challenging for young people in our regions.

“We believe growing up in the regions shouldn’t mean fewer opportunities to learn, get involved and have fun.

“This program is all about making school holidays in regional areas more enjoyable and accessible for everyone – without costing parents and families a cent.”

Minister for Regional New South Wales Tara Moriarty said the holiday program was providing a fantastic range of activities.

“We want to ensure young people in our regions can access engaging and meaningful experiences, no matter where they live,” Moriarty said.

“By helping to bridge the gap created by distance and financial barriers, we’re making it easier for young people to stay connected to their local communities, explore new interests, and have fun while they do it.”

North Coast activities include the Kyogle Together, Youth Week regional roller-skating event on April 10, and a four-day multi-sports camp for ages 12-24 by Far North Coast Hockey Incorporated on April 14.

Rainbow Roos offers an inclusive and adaptable soccer skills holiday program, Lego and craft, in Lismore and Ballina from April 14-27, and Ballina Basketball will host a 3×3 Basketball Gala Day on April 15.

Casuarina Beach Rugby Club and Far North Coast Rugby Union (Byron Bay) are offering a NSW Rugby for Good Clinic on April 24 and 25, respectively.
