USING artificial intelligence to help small businesses is the focus of an October Business Month event in Tweed on October 28.

Louis Birks from Birks & Co. will deliver a hands-on, practical workshop on how businesses can use AI to save time, cut costs, streamline operations, boost productivity, and sharpen marketing.

Birks said the biggest misconception about technology was that ‘AI isn’t that useful to my business’.

“We’ve seen what it can do, and we know the possibilities from revolutionising workflows to helping make faster decisions,” he said.

“Across the board, in all areas of business, it can save time, help you overcome problems, and help you make decisions faster.

“It can support your weaknesses and troubleshoot on the go – whether it’s understanding your finances, making sense of contracts, or designing marketing material.”

The interactive sessions will guide participants from all industries on how to apply AI to real business tasks that can be used immediately, including creating social media content, writing grant applications, and automating everyday workflows.

Birks said the impact of AI on small businesses was two-fold.

“There’s the impact on our productivity, and all things in our business that we can control and leverage AI to find efficiencies,” he said.

“And then AI’s impact on customer behaviour, which is equally important and talked about a lot less. How will customers discover your business through AI recommendations? How customers find out about you might change. We’re seeing that shift now.

“It’s a really exciting time to be a small business owner, and AI can unleash creativity and supercharge how we work.

“New advancements are happening really fast. AI could change how the future of business looks, but we’ll still need to understand our customers, connect with them where they are, and create great experiences; hopefully, that won’t change.”
