THE Mullum Library of Stuff has undergone a transformation to become an official co-operative,

with organisers saying “we just got too busy”.

The local resource library has been available to the community since 2019 and aims to support its members to save money on low use items and remove excessive waste and consumption.

Director Sasha Mainsbridge said the predominantly, volunteer-run organisation has loaned 20,000 tools and low-use items, such as partyware or camping gear, since April 2019.

The library now has more than 1200 items now in the collection for borrowing.

Ms Mainsbridge said the Library of Stuff had undergone a transformation to become an official co-operative to better manage the community’s need, with job roles open for recruitment.

“We recognise not everyone is in a position to share, so this allows all members to do so and to actively participate in fun community events, such as our monthly Garden and Repair event, which will have specialist permaculture gardeners and tradespeople who will take stock of what is needed and share their valuable knowledge in a fun and inclusive environment.

“This is a chance for people to break outside of the mold of what is currently available, which is a shop where your only choice and interaction is to go and buy something, instead, why not become a part of a co-operative community, creating change for good”.
