WOMEN from across regional, rural and remote New South Wales will gather in Lismore next week for the 32nd annual NSW Rural Women’s Gathering.

Organised by Lismore City Council with $40,000 in NSW Government support, the event’s theme is Connect to the Heart and will feature a full day of speakers, workshops, and food experiences at The Quad in the heart of the city.

Keynote speaker Shanna Whan AM, founder of Sober in the Country, will be joined by Dr Hannah Tonkin, NSW Women’s Safety Commissioner, and actor and advocate Madeleine West. Former triple j presenter Mel Bampton will MC the event.

Attendees can choose from more than a dozen workshops, including traditional weaving with Indigenous artists, AI and sustainability sessions, and a cacao and mindfulness ceremony.

A Roaming Lunch will give participants a chance to dine at some of Lismore’s most-loved cafés, while connecting with others and supporting local businesses.

“Most won’t know this, but Lismore and its surroundings were home to me in another life and hold some good memories,” Whan said.

“I’m humbled to be invited back.”

Tickets are $85 and include all workshops, speaker sessions, and catering. The gathering takes place on Saturday October 25. For more information or to register, visit nsw.gov.au/rwn.
