A MAN has died after being pulled from the water at Kingscliff on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Kingscliff Beach about 4pm after reports a man had gone missing in the water.

Officers attached to Tweed Heads Marine Area Command began searching the area with assistance from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

“A short time later, police retrieved the man, commenced first aid, and transported him to the Water Police Station,” NSW Police said in a statement.

NSW Ambulance paramedics assessed the man at the scene.

“However, he died at the scene,” police said.

The man has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be in his 50s.

“Police have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident and will prepare a report for the Coroner,” the statement said.
