Mental As Anything reunion to hit Mullum Roots
WHAT began as a Sydney pub band formed by a few art students has, over fifty years, grown into one of Australia’s most successful and beloved musical acts.
Boasting the highest number of hit songs of any Australian band, their influence extends beyond music. Their film clips, poster art, album covers and T shirt designs are now among the most recognisable and iconic examples of Australian pop art.
Now, 50 years later, Mental As Anything reunites, with original members Reg Mombassa and Peter O’Doherty announcing a 2026 tour celebrating 50 years, and they’re coming to Mullum Roots Festival on July 11 and 12.
Peter O’Doherty endorsed the Byron Shire boutique festival, saying: “Mullum Roots Festival is one of the coolest festivals I’ve been to and played at. Brilliant atmosphere in a beautiful town, well worth the trip to the rolling hills of northern NSW to see and hear some great Australian music. Looking forward to playing and spending the weekend there.”
Mullum Roots Festival sold out last year and it’s looking like it will again this year.
