Multi-generational Queensland business finds its cool with a focus on community
Founded in 1979, Cold Front Air Conditioning is a multi-generational Queensland business focused on community, quality service and trusted Daikin solutions.
Founded in 1979, Cold Front Air Conditioning started with Greg Deane and a vision to bring high-quality air conditioning solutions to homes across south-east Queensland.
In 1992, Cold Front became a Daikin dealer and is now one of Daikin’s largest and longest serving dealerships. With minimal advertising, Cold Front’s success has relied solely on long-term relationships, exceptional service, and word-of-mouth.
For 30 years, Greg led the company, cultivating expertise and building connections with clients and industry partners. In 2009, his son Simon Deane took over, continuing the legacy as one of the region’s leading suppliers and installers.
Today, Cold Front services the Northern Rivers, Tweed Coast, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, and Toowoomba regions. In 2024, General Manager Brendan Dobbin, a former Daikin employee, joined the team bringing decades of experience, technical knowledge and leadership.
A significant local employer, Cold Front provides more than 100 full-time and subcontractor positions across south-east Queensland. In 2025, it was named Small Employer of the Year at The Industry School Awards in recognition of its commitment to young trade students.
Connections that count
Cold Front’s 46-year heritage has been built on its relationships with homeowners and the builders who rely on its expertise. The company also maintains long-standing industry connections with construction companies and contractors.
A key partnership has been with Stockland, one of Australia’s leading property developers. Cold Front has supplied thousands of Daikin systems to the company’s retirement communities, including Halcyon and other developments.
“We are proud to play a role in creating comfortable and efficient spaces for the elderly. As air conditioning technology becomes more advanced, it can be trickier for some customers to navigate so we’re always happy to help. Many residents know they can call us directly for support, whether it’s explaining how to use the zoning system or adjusting modes from heating to cooling,” Brendan said.
For older Australians, health and wellbeing are strongly linked to safe and consistent indoor comfort. Brendan says this is where Cold Front’s choice of Daikin technology matters.
“Good air quality, stable temperatures, and quiet operation make a huge difference for residents. It’s not just about comfort, its supporting health, reducing stress, and helping people enjoy their homes for longer.
“Cold Front’s association with Daikin, one of the most reputable brands in our industry, is not only an extension of our commitment to the highest standards of quality and service, but gives us more hands-on expertise than most competitors,” Brendan added.
Despite the business’s size and growth, Cold Front maintains a low profile online. Its reputation, heritage, and proven track record of service have become its strongest asset, with word-of-mouth and relationships continuing to drive demand.
Giving back to the community
Cold Front also takes pride in contributing to Queensland communities, not just through comfort but supporting initiatives that matter.
One of the company’s largest customers is Plantation Homes, with the dealership providing a fully installed Daikin Ducted Air Conditioning unit to its House for Life program.
The initiative supports Mater Little Miracles, which funds specialist care for seriously ill and premature babies in Brisbane’s Mater Mothers’ Hospital Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU). To date, the building and auctioning of luxury homes has raised more than $9 million.
“Knowing our work is helping support Queensland’s tiniest patients is something the team is incredibly proud of,” Brendan said.
