THE NAB Darrel Chapman Fun Run will return to Lismore on Sunday 30 August, inviting people of all ages and abilities to take part while raising funds for children’s healthcare across the Northern Rivers.

The event is hosted by Our Kids alongside NAB, Lismore City Council and The Lord’s Taverners, with proceeds helping Northern Rivers children and families access healthcare.

Participants can choose from three events, including the free Terania Consulting 4km Walk/Run, the Lord’s Taverners 10km Walk/Run, and the Lismore City Council Masters Games Half Marathon, covering 21km.

Those unable to attend in person can also participate through the Southern Cross University Virtual Marathon.

Although the 4km event is free, Our Kids fundraising coordinator Rebekka Battista said participants are encouraged to register online before the event and can purchase an Our Kids event shirt for $20 during registration.

“Registration is essential so we can account for everyone on the course and ensure the event runs safely,” Battista said.

“There’s also the opportunity to make a donation during registration to help support local children and families.”

Community groups, businesses, schools and friends are also invited to enter either the NAB Team Community or Corporate Challenge or the Lismore Workers Club School Challenge, with the highest fundraising team receiving the challenge trophy.

Connect Accountants is sponsoring the finishing straight this year, while Mountain Blue, BASEC and Southern Cross University have also joined as event supporters.

Organisers hope to build on last year’s turnout of more than 1,200 participants by attracting an even larger crowd in 2026.

“Last year we had more than 1,200 participants, and this year we’d love to see that number grow beyond 1,500,” Battista said.

“We’d love to see people from right across the Northern Rivers and South East Queensland pull on their joggers, gather their family and friends, and either walk or run to support Our Kids.”

“Every person who takes part helps make a difference for local children needing medical care.”

Participants in the 10km and 21km events who register during the early bird period will also have the option to personalise their race bib with their name or nickname, allowing supporters to cheer them on by name during the event.

Families are encouraged to bring children, prams, dogs and even dress up for the day, with the event continuing its tradition as a popular community fundraiser on the Northern Rivers calendar.
