LOCAL businesses can learn about how AI and other emerging technologies will impact them at a new series of events in Byron Bay.

THE REMIX :: BYRON will be held monthly, with the first event taking place on Wednesday August 28 at immersive art and light experience OTHERWORLD, located in the former Woolworths building in Byron Bay’s main street.

Former Google innovation lead and Dare Together founder Chris Rollings, who aims to empower businesses to ethically harness AI and create new revenue streams, will be special guest speaker at the event. “I think there’s a lot of uncertainty around what AI can actually do,” THE REMIX director Michelle Williams said.

“There’s a lot of possibilities, opportunities and challenges and I think that the people who are willing to take a step and gain an understanding of the tools and how they can use them are the ones who are going to benefit the most.

“They are the ones who will stay ahead as the technology continues to innovate, because it’s moving quite fast.

“There’s a lot going on and I think it’s important for business owners and individuals to understand the technology, because it’s coming and you can’t avoid it.”

Williams worked in the start-up community in Sydney before moving to Byron Bay.

“I do a lot of events and work in the technology industry and I found there’s a real gap in the area around the conversation of technology,” she said.

“There’s a lot of great business groups around doing great things, but I think there’s a conversation that’s missing around artificial intelligence and virtual reality.”

Williams said OTHERWORLD was the perfect venue for the event.

“They’re really celebrating technology so I feel like it really suits that space,” she said.
