BUILDING work has commenced on the newly branded Hotel Lismore following council approval for the first phases of reconstructions.

For almost three decades, Lismore’s Mary G’s has been a popular meeting spot in the city for food, live music and entertainment, and community connection.

After announcing the venue’s rebranding to Hotel Lismore a few months ago, construction on the major refit began this week to transform the central CBD multi-story pub owned by Waratah Hotel Group.

A notable feature is the former nightclub area being transformed into a beer garden and dining area.

“We’ve cherished every laugh, every meal, and every evening spent with our wonderful community,” a spokesperson said.

“While our name is changing, our essence remains the same. We’re still the local pub you’ve known and loved.

“Our new name reflects our commitment to being a central part of the Lismore community, a place that feels like home to everyone.

“Rest assured, all the things you love about Mary G’s, the vibrant atmosphere, our delicious food, and the friendly faces, aren’t going anywhere.”

The hotel said it would continue to prioritise a classic pub menu with Aussie classics and fresh seasonal dishes, aiming to be delicious and affordable.

Live entertainment will continue, as will the live sports on the big screen.

“We’re also thrilled to announce that plans for refurbishment and expansion are well underway, ensuring that Hotel Lismore not only meets but exceeds your expectations,” the hotel spokesperson said.

“We can’t wait to welcome you back, not just as patrons, but as part of the Hotel Lismore family.”

The renovation will occur in stages over the next six months, subject to DA approval.
